Coco takes on lead role in new ABS-CBN TV series Thursday February 24, 2011 Philippines
MANILA, Philippines – It's Coco Martin's time to shine.
Martin is playing the lead role in ABS-CBN's upcoming television series, "Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin."
In an interview with ABS-CBN News during a press preview for “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin,” Martin, known as the Prince of Indie, shared his excitement over his first major TV project.
"Kambal ako dito. Sobrang hirap kasi naghanda ako para sa role ko sa military. Siyempre nag-training ako at nag-research naman ako para sa role ko na rebelde," he said.
Martin is also happy to be given the chance to work with veteran and award-winning stars.
"Nakakatuwa kasi at least kahit alam kong baguhan kami nandiyan ang suporta na binibigay nila sa amin. And then para kaming pamilyang nagta-trabaho dito," he added.
Martin, who is known for his acting prowess, admitted that he still gets "starstruck" by grandslam actress Lorna Tolentino.
"Lalo na noong unang una kong makasama si Ms. LT (Tolentino) sa pelikula, then ito na ang pangalawa naming pagkakataong magka-trabaho so nakapag-adjust na. Sila Ms. Amy (Austria) sobra kasing nanay, talagang iga-guide ka nila, tulad din nila ni Ronnie (Lazaro)," he said.
He also praised the seasoned actors for being so down to earth. "Walang [star complex]. Napaka-humble nila. Sabi ko nga ganoon pala ‘yong training ng mga artista noong araw. Talagang napaka-humble nila at napaka-supportive nila sa mga baguhang artistang katulad namin."
In the TV series, he is teamed up with 2 young actresses, namely Maja Salvador and Andi Eigenmann.
Also part of the series are formidable stars like Candy Pangilinan, John Estrada, Tonton Gutierrez, Dante Rivero, Ronaldo Valdez and Boots Anson-Roa.
"Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin” will premiere on March 7 after "Mutya."
